Football Bet of the Day: Defences mashed in Munich

We’re heading to Germany, because Kev thinks he’s found us some Friday night fun.

Need for victories should liven things up

1860 Munich v Verl
Friday 04 March, 18:00

We anticipated success for Betis in the Copa del Rey last night, and while they lined the streets of Seville celebrating a rare appearance in a cup final, we were left to rue the fact that they had merely drawn the second leg against Rayo Vallecano rather than securing the victory we needed.

We’ll trudge away from the celebrations, all the way to southern Germany. 1860 Munich are in action against Verl, and both teams need to push for the win.

1860 have long existed in the shadow of might neighbours Bayern Munich, and they have flirted with financial disaster from time to time. However, they are still in with a shot of winning promotion this season, as they are five points off the top three with ten matches left. Interestingly for our purposes tonight, they have the worst defensive record in the top nine, with 38 goals leaked and just six clean sheets in 28 matches.

Verl surprised many by finishing seventh in the league last term, but they have sunk back into trouble this time around. They are fourth from bottom, two points from safety. With 50 goals leaked, they have the second-worst defensive record in the league, but they have scored 37 times. That goal tally is the joint-highest in the bottom half of the table.

I’ll back BTTS and Over 2.5 Goals here at 1.9420/21 on the Sportsbook’s Bet Builder. That combination has paid out in ten of 1860’s last 15 games, and seven of Verl’s last 15.
