Class Brother: Curry graduates from Davidson

Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry has graduated from Davidson College, the school announced Sunday morning.

Curry, who helped lead the Warriors to a 110-96 win over the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 6 of their second-round series on Friday and advance to the Western Conference finals, will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in sociology. He will not attend the commencement, Davidson said, but Curry’s name will be listed as one of the graduates.

13 years after entering the NBA, Stephen Curry is a college grad.

Stephen completed his final semester of coursework this spring and will receive a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Sociology from Davidson College.

Curry had been one semester short of graduating and reenrolled at the school for the spring semester, Davidson said. He worked with two Davidson faculty members — a professor at Stanford and another at UC Santa Cruz — to compete his degree.

Curry attended the North Carolina school from 2006 to 2009 and is arguably the best player in Davidson history, being the school’s all-time leader in points, 3-pointers, free throws, field goals and steals.

He had been unable to have his jersey retired by Davidson because the college will retire only the numbers of players who graduate. Curry’s graduation Sunday is likely the final step before his number hangs in the Davidson rafters.
